Singer/songwriter showcase starts at Butter’s

Husband-wife musical duo Galynne Goodwill and Mark Riggenbach will help fill the musical void left by the closing of Clark Place by hosting a weekly singer/songwriter showcase at Butter’s Brickhause in downtown Point.

“Since moving to this area from Madison, Mark and I have been searching for an ideal venue to host a weekly Songwriter Showcase,” Galynne said. “We wanted to find a place that was close for UWSP students and support a local downtown business. Butter's Brickhause is one of the nicest venues on the Square in Stevens Point.”

Beginning Feb. 20, Galynne & MarkOnDrums will start the evening off with a set of their own music, and then will introduce a different showcase artist each week.

“There is a huge body of talent in the Central and NE Wisconsin area, artists writing their own music and promoting their art,” Galynne said. “Mark and I want to give these artists an opportunity to share their music in a showcase setting versus an open mic/open jam setting. Clark Place was home base for a lot of local musicians to either perform or support live, local music. We felt like we were a part of that family too. But we choose to remain optimistic. Live music will survive in Stevens Point, we cannot afford to believe anything less.”
