Whatever Happened to…Operation Area Arts: From 1966 to 1969, a vibrant and distinctive arts program –Operation Area Arts – flourished in the Green Bay area. This federally funded program brought in young, talented artists and teachers who wanted to “make a difference,” and they did. More than 40 years later, their hard work and talent are remembered by the community and their influence is still felt today, Neville Public Museum (through April 4).

Winter Landscapes: RiverEdge Galleries, Mishicot, weekends only (through April 18).

Cabinets of Curiosity: Wondrous Objects & Extraordinary Stories from the Museum’s Collection: Themed in honor of the Milwaukee Public Museum’s 125th anniversary, this exhibit illustrates the vast scope of MPM holdings by highlighting four aspects of the collections: diverse range, odd extremes, intriguing collection stories, and obscure object functions, through April 5.

Hometown Advantage: The Community and the Packers: Video exhibit featuring five short films focusing on the Packers relationship with the local community, Neville Public Museum, Green Bay.

A Taste of Scandinavia: Brown County Public Library, Green Bay.

Permanent Collection: 20th century art including original works by George Segal, Ernst Trova, Victor Vasarely, Robert Indiana, LeRoy Neiman and Denny Dent. Gail Floether Steinhilber Art Gallery , Reeve Union, UW-Oshkosh.

Sports & Spirit: From Little League to tavern leagues, individual athletes to teams, players to fans, Sports & Spirit will highlight how organized sports create and strengthen community ties. Stories and objects from the late 1800s through today will be included in the exhibit. Outagamie Museum, Appleton.

Weis Earth Science Museum: Featuring dinosaur exhibits and the geologic history of Wisconsin; University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley, Menasha.

Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible: Ancient Artifacts, Timeless Treasures: An exhibition created and produced by the Milwaukee Public Museum – includes authentic Dead Sea Scrolls, illustrated manuscripts, artifacts, landscape and aerial photography, and interactive displays about science, discovery and exploration.2.2

From Headlines to History: 125 years of major news headlines and how they made it into the history books. The exhibit includes video and audio displays, as well as a look at how the newspapers in Appleton and how they reported stories. Hearthstone Historic House Museum, Appleton (through June 19).

Snapshots of History: Oshkosh 100 Years Ago: A local history exhibit at the Oshkosh Public Museum invites visitors to step back onto the streets of old Oshkosh to discover the community’s culture and history (through May 23).

The Photography of Robert J. Ellison: Vietnam and the Civil Rights Movement: Experience the intensely emotional, personal and compelling images of the siege at Khe Sanh and of the American Civil Rights Movement as seen through the camera lens of photographer Robert Ellison, who at age 22 was killed in Vietnam. Neville Public Museum (through May 23).

Three Wisconsin Book Artists: Aylward Gallery, UW-Fox Valley, Menasha.An exhibition that features work of Caren Heft, Jeff Morin and Brian Borchardt, three Wisconsin artists who make art books and related visual images that entertain the mind and eye.

Who I Am-What I Do: Meet the artist, John Hartman, 4-7 p.m. Q Gallery Artist’s Cooperative 1180 Main St., Stevens Point. Hartman has immersed himself in the exploration of the creative potential of new technology and his own unique perspectives to create a fresh series of original photographs (through June 5).
