A Guide to Visiting the Qatar 2022 World Cup

Football, the most popular sport in the world, has a World Cup every four years. This is one of those events which everyone is looking forward to. The fans are often speculating which team will be the strongest and have the best odds to take home a victory. The press is bombarding everyone with news regarding the world cup and the bookmakers are already planning on cashing in from all the punters. Bookmakers prepare various content for the fans who will most likely spend a lot of time betting on their favorite teams, most likely that of their own country. You can learn about how promotional content works prior to the World Cup, on betoclock.com.

But, with the previous World Cup over and the new one looming, preparations should be made in advance. Here is everything you need to know about the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.

It’s Taking Place in Qatar – For the First Time

There have only been a couple of countries who hosted the World Cup multiple times, namely Brazil, Italy, Mexico and France. Qatar will be hosting the first World Cup ever in the Arab world. Likewise, that means that it will also be the first World Cup in a Muslim-majority country. It will also be the second World Cup to be held in Asia, next only to the 2002 South Korea/Japan. This tournament also marks the last time when we will see 32 teams participating. The 2026 variant will have 48 teams participating, an increase of 50%. The tournament will be taking place in late 2022, from November to December, the only tournament to do so. This is most likely due to extremely high temperatures during the summer in Qatar.

8 Venues – 8 Locations

The tournament will be held at 8 different venues, some in different cities. Some of the venues have not even been constructed, while others have been around for a while. But, it is good to know that none of the locations are further than 55 kilometers from one another. That is less than an hour of driving, probably a bit more if you use public transport. For hardcore fans, this means that they can catch multiple matches during a single day, live.

There Have Been Plenty of Controversies Regarding the 2022 World Cup

There have been plenty of controversies regarding the upcoming World Cup, most of them having to do with hosting a World Cup in such an inappropriate climate. Qatar is really hot, especially during the summer, when the World Cup usually takes place. The temperatures are always over 30 degrees Celsius, from April to November, even. During summer, they are frequently over 40 degrees.

Air-conditioned stadiums were discussed, but the event was scheduled for November and December due to financial and temporal restrictions.

There were plenty of talks of corruption, meaning that FIFA officials were bought to give Qatar the World Cup 2022. But, as rumors go, those are pretty weak and based upon nothing but prejudice. Investigations took place in 2014 and 2015 but found no results connecting Qatar and corruption regarding the hosting of the 2022 World Cup.

Prepare Accordingly

With 8 venues across 5 different cities, you should take your time to learn a bit about the culture of Qatar. Being an islamic country, you should get accustomed to some laws, which may or may not affect tourists. The last thing one wants to do is break a law due to ignorance.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 will be taking place in Qatar, the first in an islamic country. Make sure to get ready, it will be one of the most exciting World Cups.
